Gymnastics Squads – By invitation only

FLEXI SQUAD

Our Flexi Squad is the next step up from our Recreational sessions, where the gymnasts are showing great development. These are still fun sessions, to allow gymnasts to have a go on all apparatus and progress. Our gymnasts have high potential but are not quite ready to take on so many hours. Competitions may be offered to gain experience, but they are not compulsory.  Flexi Squad have the choice to do 1, 2, or all 3 of the sessions per week.

Monday 6:30pm – 8:30pm, Wednesday 5:45pm – 7:45pm, Thursday 6:15 – 8:15pm

The following needs to be done with support, showing good form:

Round off back handspring, Strong standing back handspring, Front walkover

Beam: ½ turn on toes, Handstand, Cartwheel

Bar: Chin up, Back pull over, Back up hip circle, Straddle on undershoot

Vault: Handstand flatback with good form, Upper advanced rec squads-working towards back tuck twists on tumbling/arabians and half on/half offs in vault, Upstarts beam

STARS SQUAD

Stars Squad is for gymnasts aged between 4 and 7 years of age. These children show natural talent or future promise, through dedication and hard work. We aim to integrate them into a more focused method of learning while keeping the session fun and age appropriate. Gymnasts in this session will be offered competitions as they arise. Stars Squad will be the first place we look when adding new gymnasts to our Development and Elite Squads.  Stars Squad will be expected to do 4 hours per week.

Friday 4:30pm – 6:30pm, Saturday 1:30pm – 3:30pm

The following needs to be done with support

Round off back handspring, Strong standing back handspring, Front walkover

Beam: ½ turn on toes, Handstand, Cartwheel

Bar: Chin up , Back pull over, Back up hip circle, Straddle on undershoot

Vault: Handstand flatback with good form

DEVELOPMENT SQUAD

The Development Squads are the mid ground between our Elite Squad and our Flexi Squad. Development Squad should expect to be entered into entry level competitions and they should have high enthusiasm towards these. We do expect  Development Squad to train after hours, doing conditioning and flexibility exercise at home. Although their sessions are intense and expectations are high, there is a very motivational and positive atmosphere. Our experienced coaches are always on the lookout to move our gymnasts up to the next level! Development squads are expected to train for 6 hours a week.

Tuesday 5:30pm – 7:30pm, Friday 4:30pm – 6:30pm and Saturday 3:30pm – 5:30pm

The following needs to be done without support:

Round off back handspring, Strong standing back handspring, Front walkover

Beam: ½ turn on toes, Handstand, Cartwheel

Bar: Chin up, Back pull over, Back up hip circle, Straddle on undershoot

Vault: Handstand flatback with good form

ELITE SQUAD

Elite Squad are 2 groups of gymnasts that are hand-picked from the squads and compete in Regional competitions working towards levels and grades. This group of gymnasts are mainly coached by our Assistant Head Coach Emily and Amy Manning to allow them to excel to the maximum of their ability. Elite Squad are expected to do 12 hours of training each week.

Monday 5:30pm – 8:00pm, Tuesday 5:30pm – 8:00pm, Friday 5:30pm – 8:00pm and Saturday 12:30pm – 6:00pm

The following needs to be done:

Complete a back handspring series, Cartwheel back tuck dismount off beam

Upstart to handstand on bar, Layout backaway

Vault: Tsukahara and half on/half off

Floor: Front handspring to front tuck connected Arabian on floor

COMPULSORY

Younger gymnasts that are working towards Compulsory Grades. If they place in the top 6 of the Regional competitions they can go on to National Finals. This is group is supervised by Head Coach Georgia.

Compulsory Squad is expected to do 7 hours of gymnastics per week.

Monday 4:00pm – 6:30pm, Tuesday 4:00pm – 6:00pm, Thursday 4:00pm – 6:30pm

NATIONALS

These Gymnasts are working towards National Grades. If they place in the top 6 Regional Competitions then they can go to National Finals. Coached by Head Coach Georgia.

Nationals are expected to do 16 hours of gymnastics per week.

Monday 4:15pm – 8:30pm, Tuesday 5:00pm – 8:00pm, Thursday 4:30pm – 8:00pm, Friday 2:45pm – 8:00pm
